The West Plains Zizzers took on the Hillcrest Hornets on Friday, September 13, 2024 at the Hillcrest Stadium in northern Springfield.
The West Plains Zizzers start off the game in a good position on the 47 following a great start off tackle. Zizzers make the first touchdown of the game getting a lead of 7 to 0. West Plains and the Hornets fight for the ball, each turning it over to the other team, before fighting for it again, and both teams trying to get the next touchdown. Four minutes left into the first quarter and the Hornets slowly fight their way down the field towards their own goal line. After the long fight, the Hornets score a touchdown bringing the game to a tie of 7 to 7. West Plains makes a huge come back when the make a 24 yard run to their goal line. The Hornets continue to block the ball keeping the Zizzers from scoring anymore touchdowns in the first quarter ending it in a tie of 7 to 7.
Quarter 2 starts off with an out of bounds ball, a tied game, and the Zizzers at their own 48 yard line. Zizzers start off strong running a full 38 yards bringing the game back to their side. West Plains gets the first touchdown of the quarter with a 1 yard run bringing the score to 14 to 7. A significant play is made when the Hornets turn the ball over to the Zizzers, giving the Zizzers a huge advantage on the field. They spend the rest of the first half pushing each other slowly down the field fighting for any advantage they can get. West Plains makes one last push in the first half getting a last minute touchdown bringing it to an end with the Zizzers leading 21 to 7.
Hornets start the 2nd half of the game with a good field position at the 50 yard line. The two teams spend most of the 3rd quarter struggling back and forth on the field, looking to find any points. The 3rd quarter ends tough with neither team making any points, leaving the Zizzers still in the lead at 21 to 7.
The last quarter of the games starts off slow until the Zizzers score yet another touchdown bringing them further in the lead with a score of 28 to 7. The Zizzers finish the game off strong with one more touchdown winning the game with a score of 35 to 7.
The Zizzers will play again on Friday, September 20, 2024. The game will be available by livestream and on 102.5 KDY.
