West Plains, MO. – The West Plains Zizzers won their first home game of the 2023-2024 football season against the Glendale Falcons.
The first quarter was rather slow, with the only points being gained by the Falcons with a field goal. The Zizzers followed this up in the second quarter, scoring the only touchdowns of the game, and three at that, to end the first half ahead 21 to 3.
The third quarter saw the Falcons put two more points on the board in a rather unique way. Glendale had attempted a field goal that was blocked. The ball then bounced off of the goal posts and back into play, resulting in a safety.
The final quarter of the game saw the return of an issue that plagued the previous game against Bolivar: delays by officials. In the early part of the fourth, the Falcons were able to put two more points on the board with another safety. The issue with officials began with a lengthy delay that began with 3:38 left on the game clock, lasted more than five minutes, and ended with the officials giving Glendale control of the ball after the Zizzers had achieved a first down. Despite the change of possession, the Zizzer defense was able to prevent the Falcons from scoring, leading to a West Plains victory.
The West Plains Zizzers defeated the Glendale Falcons 21 to 7.
