COLUMBIA, Mo. – Former University of Missouri softball standout Brooke Wilmes has signed a professional contract with the Smash It Sports Vipers of Women’s Professional Fastpitch.
Wilmes, a centerfielder from Johnston, Iowa, earned 2021 NFCA Third Team All-American honors and led the Tigers at the dish in 2019 and 2022.
She was named to four All-SEC teams and was awarded three NFCA All-Region laurels over her career as a Tiger.
Over five seasons with Missouri, Wilmes appeared in 263 games with 259 starts. She registered a .345 career batting average with a .314 on-base percentage and a .575 slugging percentage (10th all-time at Missouri).
Wilmes ranks first all-time in Mizzou program history with 828 at bats and 59 doubles, and second overall with 286 hits and 206 runs.
She also compiled 41 home runs (eighth all-time) and 164 RBI (tied for seventh all-time).
In a single-season at Missouri, Wilmes is second for at bats (212, 2021), third for doubles (17, 2019), fifth for hits (79, 2021), ninth for batting average (.407, 2020) and ninth for runs (55, 2021).
Wilmes currently serves as an assistant softball coach at Stephens College in Columbia.
Wilmes will join Mizzou graduate assistant Amber Fiser on the Smash It Sports Vipers.
The Smash It Sports Vipers open their 2023 season June 15-17 against the Oklahoma City Spark. The Vipers play their home games at the Choccolocco Park Signature Softball Stadium in Oxford, Alabama.
