(Cabool) The top-seeded Winona Wildcats started fast in the class 1, district 6 volleyball championship match at Cabool Tuesday evening and took the title in 3 games over the host Lady Bulldogs.
Winona ran away with game 1, 25-8. Game 2 again saw the Lady Wildcats build a lead early and win 25-17. Game 3 was the most competitive of the match with Cabool taking an early 6-4 lead but strong net play led Winona back and, ultimately, a 25-16 victory. In their 2 district matches, Winona didn’t lose a set.

The victory was the 29th of the year for Winona who will advance to sectionals in class 1 Thursday at 6:30 at Annapolis where they will face South Iron. The Lady Panthers beat Lesterville for the District 5 title Tuesday at Bunker in 5 games.
