(Eminence) The Winona Lady Wildcats added another volleyball district title to their trophy case Monday night with a 3-0 win over third-seeded Summersville at Eminence High School.
It would be easy to assume from the score that top-seeded Winona had a cakewalk to the victory but that is far from the truth. Summersville led through the first half of each game only to see Winona come back strong each time. The senior trio of Bailee Luttrell, Nevaeh Malawey and Taylor Osborne led the way for Winona as their district experience was evident against the talented but younger Summersville group. Freshman Kari Jordan, sophomore Elizabeth Havens and junior Kaytlin Martin all had solid games for Summersville.
Winona will play at either School of the Ozarks at Branson or at Fordland in the first round of state class 1 competition Thursday evening.
