COLUMBIA, Mo – University of Missouri women’s basketball begins the 2024-25 season at 5 p.m. CT on Monday against Vermont. The road contest will be streamed live on ESPN+.
For the Tigers, the new year marks No. 51 in the history of the program. Missouri has an all-time program record of 852-646.
Mizzou returns nine players from last year’s squad headlined by sophomore guard Grace Slaughter.
Slaughter, the 2023 McDonald’s All-American and Missouri Gatorade Player of the Year, finished fourth among league freshmen at 11.5 points per game a season ago.
A 2023-24 All-SEC Freshman Team member, Slaughter ranked fifth all-time among program freshmen in total points with 345.
Junior guard Ashton Judd, a 2022-23 all-conference freshman team member, is back for the Tigers in her third season.
Judd, who averaged 7.4 points and 3.0 rebounds as a freshman, nearly doubled her production averaging 13.4 points and ranking 16th in the SEC with 6.4 boards per game last season.
Sophomore guard Abbey Schreacke ranked fifth in the SEC a season ago with 1.7 assists per game. She appeared in all 30 games last year and made two starts for the Tigers.
Graduate forward Angelique Ngalakulondi and redshirt sophomore guard Averi Kroenke return to the Tigers lineup after suffering injuries a season ago. Graduate guard De’Myla Brown is also available this year after sitting out the 2023-24 campaign due to NCAA transfer guidelines.
Thursday will be the first collegiate contest for the Tigers’ freshmen class of Londyn Oliphant and Ma’Riya Vincent.
Oliphant, a First Team All-State honoree, was the No. 40 overall recruit in the state of Texas out of Prestonwood Christian Academy in Dallas, Texas.
Vincent was a Naismith High School Player of the Year nominee and was the No. 4 ranked recruit in Texas out of Cypress Spring High School in Houston, Texas.
Missouri added four transfers in the offseason in Laniah Randle (Southern Illinois), Tilda Sjökvist (Presbyterian), Nyah Wilson (New Mexico) and Tionna Herron (Texas).
The four transfers bring veteran experience to the team with a combined 236 games of collegiate experience.
Head coach Robin Pingeton returns for her 15th season at the forefront of the Missouri program. Pingeton is 1-of-28 active Division-I head coaches with 500+ career wins, and just 1-of-13 at the helm of a Power Four program to reach the monumental milestone.
Her 571 career victories currently rank third among active SEC head coaches. She has led Missouri to four NCAA tournament appearances and 10 postseason appearances over her tenure with the team.
Missouri is 40-9 all-time in season openers including a 13-1 mark in the Pingeton era.
The game will mark No. 1,498 in the history of the women’s basketball program at Mizzou.
The season-opening contest will be the first all-time meeting between the programs.
Vermont finished last season at 25-12 including a 12-4 mark in American East Conference play.
The Catamounts advanced to the 2022-23 WNIT Fab 4 before falling to Saint Louis.
Vermont is coached by Alisa Kresge who is in her seventh season at the helm with a 97-68 overall record. Kresge guided the program to the 2022-23 NCAA tournament.
Vermont is headlined by Anna Olson who led the returning roster 11.6 points per game and claimed All-AEC Second Team honors.

Season tickets for the 2024-25 season are on sale now and start at just $49. Current season-ticket holders can renew their tickets by using their Mizzou Tigers account. Single game tickets are also available including $4 tickets to see Missouri’s home opener against Southern on Nov. 7.
