TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – University of Missouri Women’s Basketball was unable to topple No. 19 Alabama on Sunday afternoon as the Tigers fell 68-49 in Coleman Coliseum.
Graduate forward Angelique Ngalakulondi scored nine points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead Mizzou. With the output, Ngalakulondi topped the Tigers in the scoring column for the first time this season.
Senior guard Nyah Wilson contributed nine points on a four-of-eight performance from the floor.
Sophomore guard Grace Slaughter scored eight points and grabbed three boards.
Missouri jumped out to an 11-6 lead in the contest with Ngalakulondi notching four points including a second-chance bucket. Alabama responded with a 9-0 run to close the quarter and held a 15-11 advantage after one.
The Tigers clamped down defensively to begin the second, allowing just seven points over six minutes of game action. Randle, Slaughter, Brown and Wilson registered baskets in the frame to lead the offensive effort, but the Crimson Tide took a 32-20 lead into the half.
Alabama extended its advantage in the opening minutes of the third quarter. Ngalakulondi powered Missouri offensively with five points in the period, but the Crimson Tide pushed their advantage to 19 heading into the final frame.
Alabama continued to hold the lead in the fourth quarter to claim the victory.
The Tigers converted 87 percent (14-17) of their attempts at the charity stripe while Missouri’s reserves outscored the Crimson Tide bench 25 to 20.
