Women’s Basketball Falls to Vanderbilt on Senior Night

COLUMBIA, Mo. – University of Missouri women’s basketball fell to Vanderbilt 100-59 on Sunday afternoon at Mizzou Arena.

Senior point guard De’Myla Brown led Missouri (14-17, 3-13 SEC) with 16 points, three rebounds, and three assists, going 5-6 from behind the charity stripe.

In total, 10 different Tigers scored in the contest.

Senior forward Laniah Randle and Brown opened the game with an early five points, collectively. The teams exchanged baskets throughout the frame before the Commodores saw a slight lead with four minutes left in the quarter.

Sophomore guard Abbey Schreake attempted to close the gap with a 3-point conversion, followed by a final-possession layup from junior guard Ashton Judd. The Tigers trailed 23-14 entering the second quarter.

Vanderbilt could not find an answer for Missouri’s defense for the first four minutes of the second frame as the Commodores were held scoreless while the Tigers went on a 5-0 run.

Judd and Slaughter knocked down back-to-back 3-pointers to bring the score within two possessions.

Despite out-rebounding Vanderbilt 18-13, and putting up 14 bench points, to the Commodores four in the first half, Missouri trailed 44-26 at halftime.

Randle opened the third quarter with an offensive board and put-back layup. Vanderbilt extended their lead with a run before sophomore power forward Hilke Feldrappe knocked down her first three of the game.

Brown closed out the third quarter with a last-second 3-pointer, bringing the score to 74-42 entering the final frame.

Throughout the final ten minutes, Brown led the Tigers offensively, contributing seven of the team’s 17 fourth-quarter points. However, the Commodores held onto their advantage to secure the victory.

Missouri out-rebounded Vanderbilt, 37-31.

Prior to the game, Mizzou honored its four graduating seniors, Brown, Randle, Angleique Ngalakulondi and Nyah Wilson. Additionally, head coach Robin Pingeton was honored for earning her 250th win with the program.

Missouri will travel to Greenville, S.C. to face Mississippi State at 5 p.m. CT on Wednesday in the 2025 SEC Tournament.
