Women’s Basketball Set to Face Auburn

COLUMBIA, Mo. – University of Missouri women’s basketball (12-2, 1-0 SEC) will return to action on Thursday night against Auburn (8-4, 0-1 SEC). The game will tip off at 7 p.m. on SEC Network + at Mizzou Arena.

Mizzou is returning to action after a historic win over No. 1 South Carolina. The Tigers only had eight players available against the Gamecocks and were able to pull out the win. The Black and Gold will look to get off to a 2-0 start in SEC play. Missouri is 8-6 in the all-time series against Auburn. In last year’s contest, Mizzou traveled to Auburn and took the contest by a score of 85-75.

The weekly honors piled up for the Tiger after the big win. Hayley Frank and Lauren Hansen shared SEC Player of the Week honors, becoming the first pair of teammates to do so since 2002. Head Coach Robin Pingeton earned Coach of the Week honors from WHoopDirt and ESPN’s Mechelle Voepel.

Mizzou Arena has been kind so far to the home team. The Tigers are 8-0 at home on the year, including the win over South Carolina.

Junior guard Aijha Blackwell has nine double doubles on the year for the Tigers, moving her career total to 29. She is the Tigers’ leading scorer and rebounder at 16.6 points and 12.7 rebounds per game.
