COLUMBIA, Mo. – The University of Missouri women’s basketball team faces its penultimate road test of the season Thursday, headed to Georgia to face the Lady Bulldogs in Stegeman Coliseum. Mizzou (16-9, 5-7 Southeastern Conference) and Georgia (17-7, 6-6 SEC) will both look to snap three game losing streaks at 6 p.m. CT on Thursday. The game airs on SEC Network + and the Tiger Radio Network.
LAST TIME THEY MET
• The Tigers trailed from start to finish on Jan. 17 2022 as Georgia opened the game on a 16-5 run and won 72-62 inside Mizzou Arena. Mizzou would cut the Bulldogs’ lead to just one point after Hayley Frank knocked down three-pointers on three-consecutive possessions. However, a quick 7-0 run from Georgia with fewer than three minutes to go sunk the Tigers. Mizzou had 55 of its 62 points come from three players – Aijha Blackwell (27), Haley Frank (18) and Lauren Hansen (10).
SERIES BUSINESS
• Georgia leads the all-time series 10-6 and has won two-consecutive matchups over Mizzou.
THE SHOOTAROUND
• The Tigers started the year with an 8-game winning streak, the best since 2015-16 and its 11-2 nonconference record represents the program’s best since 2017-18.
• Both teams enter on a three-game losing skid. Mizzou dropped home contests to Ole Miss and Arkansas and fell on the road at Tennessee. UGA lost vs. Florida, at LSU and to No. 1 South Carolina.
• The Tigers rank in the top ten in the nation in both field goal percentage (No. 7 / .468) and three point field goal percentage (No. 2 / .392) and lead the SEC in both categories.
• Junior guard Aijha Blackwell has recorded 18 double-doubles on the season and 38 for her career. Blackwell averages 15.4 points and 13.1 rebounds per game.
• Hayley Frank (996) needs four points to become the 39th Tigers player in the 1000-career points club.
• Frank (64) and Lauren Hansen (55) are on pace to be the first teammates to hit 60+ 3-pointers in a season.
