The Lady Zizzers were the Ozark Conference Champions for the 10th consecutive year on Saturday. The girls went 1-2-3 with Brayden Kantola winning the overall race, followed closely by teammates Jordan Kantola and Jayna Gunter. Addison Sanders was 8th place, Kyia Weisbrod was 12th, Kaylee Lambe was 13th and Daphnie Dollins was 14th. Other Varsity Lady Zizzers ran in the junior varsity division due to a limited number of entries allowed. Kaylea Dixon was the individual champion in the junior varsity race and Jorden Tollenaar was 2nd.
The boy’s team ran well on Saturday as well. They were second place overall. The boys are running better as a team as they gain more experience. They are getting better about talking in races and realizing that there is power in running in a pack. Brodie Callahan was the first Zizzer across the line in 8th place, Drew Stewart was 12th, Carson King was 15th, Hoyt Stiner was 17th, and Ridge Smith was 19th.
We also had Zizzers and Lady Zizzers representing West Plains in the JV Boys race and the Freshman and Middle School Races. We have a group of middle school athletes working really hard this year. We are proud of their efforts. Their season has reached an end with this meet.
The Varsity teams will have a few days off. They will compete at Districts in Boliver on October 30th where they will race to qualify for their spot in the State Championship Meet on November 5th in Columbia MO.
