West Plains, Mo. – The West Plains Zizzers played their first post-season game against the Monett Cubs at Zizzer Stadium on a very windy first Friday night in November.
The Zizzers’ Heston Miller made a 95 yard kick-off return touchdown to start the game. The heavy wind of the night pushed the football to the left of the goal post. The wind would continue to be an opponent of both teams for the rest of the night. On the Zizzers next possession, Carter McCracken ran a 71-yard touchdown. West Plains decided to ignore the wind and make a 2 point conversion, bringing the Zizzers lead to 14. The Cubs make a touchdown and the first extra point, tightening the score 14 to 7.
West Plains started the 2nd quarter with a possession and a solid touchdown with a well-kicked extra point and a lead of 21 to 7. A disastrous play by the Zizzers, inches from the end zone, led to a fumble and possession turned to the Cubs. The Zizzers manage to make another touchdown with under a minute left in the half, score grew to 28 to 7.
