West Plains, MO. – The West Plains Zizzers took on rival Camdenton Lakers on their home turf Friday night. Both teams entered Zizzer Stadium undefeated, four wins and zero losses each. This would be the toughest team the Zizzers had played against so far in the 2022-23 season.
The game started off with a very tough first quarter. West Plains offense ran against the wall that is the Lakers defense and Camdenton was able to find the chink in the Zizzers armor, ending the quarter with the Zizzers trailing 0-7. The second quarter revealed more of a problem that has been plaguing West Plains: penalty flags. West Plains would see 5 penalties against them before the half was over. The Zizzers were able to tie up the game with 9 minutes left of the half but the Lakers answered with another touchdown two minutes later and a field goal to end the half 7-17.
The West Plains offense was able to keep some momentum during the third quarter but it wouldn’t last. The Zizzers scored their last touchdown of the game during the third quarter while Camdenton continued to score two more touchdowns, one during each of the final quarters of the game. The final score was West Plains Zizzers 14, Camdenton Lakers 31.
The Zizzers will take on the Kickapoo Chiefs on Friday, September 30 in Springfield, Missouri.
