The West Plains Zizzers played the Willard Tigers on the afternoon of February 29, 2024.
The tip off is won by the Zizzers and they immediately get the first basket of the game. The first quarter starts off fast for both team. The Zizzers fall behind in the beginning of the first quarter as the Tigers score two 3 pointer in a row making it a 6 to 4 game. The Zizzers come back fast making a couple quick scores bringing the game to a tie of 6 to 6 only to be behind again as the Tigers make another 3. The Zizzers and Tigers stay neck to neck with the winning score, making almost every 3 pointer, keeping at a tie, first at 9 to 9 and again at 12 to 12. The Willard Tigers make a last minute 3 pointer, giving them the leading score of 18 to 14 at the end of the 1st quarter.
The Willard Tigers start the 2nd quarter off strong getting the biggest lead of the game at 23 to 17. The Zizzers and Tigers stay consistent on their points as the each work their way up the score board, staying within 4 to 5 points of the other. The Tigers pull further ahead of the Zizzers as they score and the Zizzers hit a dead point. Willard continues to score on the Zizzers and pulls further ahead, leaving the score at 34 to 25 at the end the first half.
The second half starts off at a fumble from both teams, as they try to be the first team to score in the third quarter. Finally, the Willard Tigers make the first score of the third quarter making the score 36 to 25. This was followed up with a small run by the Zizzers closing the gap a little bit between the two teams. The Tigers don’t like this. They then make a couple more threes, taking the game to a 12 point game of 42 to 30. The Willard Tigers have made 10 three pointer so far in the game. The Tigers continue to rain down on the Zizzers, widening the lead to a 16 point game. The Willard Tigers stay head by 17 points or more the rest of the third quarter, ending with the leading score of 58 to 36.
To bring about the last quarter of the game, the Willard Tigers making yet another 3 point shot. This shot brings it to a 23 point lead by the Tigers. Jared Kraft makes a couple shots bringing the game to a 17 point game, taking the lead out of the twenties. The Zizzers make a last minute attempt to bring the game to a score that fairs better for them and gets it to 67-55 game. Less than 2 minutes ago the game was at a 21 point lead for the Tigers and now it is only a 12 point lead, after a quick hustle from the West Plains Zizzers. That wasn’t enough though, as the Tigers take the win at a score of 78 to 64.
