On Friday, September 4th, the West Plains Zizzers hosted the Hillcrest Hornets. The first quarter had the Hillcrest Hornets buzzing to an fast 2 touchdowns, missing the first extra point but nailing the second. The Zizzers had one touchdown of their own but, like the Hornets, had zero luck with the extra point, ending the quarter with West Plains trailing Hillcrest, 6 to 13.
The second quarter mirrored the first except with the Zizzers earning 2 touchdowns and Hillcrest with only one. West Plains stood within 2 yards of a third touchdown but ran out of time in the quarter, with a score tied at 20.
The third was a much more defensive quarter for both teams. West Plains took the lead for the first time in the game, to bring the score to 27 – 20. The fourth quarter had the Hornets coming back, stingers leading, with a touchdown and a blocked extra point. West Plains stayed on the defensive for the remainder of the game, keeping the Hornets from getting into the end zone, and managed to win the game by 1 single point, 27 to 26.
Again, the West Plains Zizzers win against the Hillcrest Hornets, 27 to 26.
