The West Plains Zizzer Boys Basketball team traveled to Carl Junction, MO on Friday night, February 21st, 2025. While the Carl Junction Bulldogs played a close second half, the Zizzers remained victorious and won by a Final of 65-54.
1st Quarter: Zizzers take an early 6-2 with A three pointer by Robbins and two floaters by Jacob Moore. Carl Junction gets some easy rebounds and causes the Zizzers to turn over the ball at least twice and only make four points within the duration of the quarter. Two points by Tadem Jones and one by Cooper Vediz for the Bulldogs. Quarter ends with the Score 10-4 off two more buckets by Jared Kraft and one additional by Robbins.
2nd Quarter: Carl Junction finally begins to press and a three connected by Kolby Martin. Another two by Josiah Long for the Zizzers as well as another three by Clayton Robbins. A three for Carl Junction by Maddox Shorter and two free throws by Martin condense. Another three for the Zizzers by Robbins as well as one by Jared Kraft. The score continues to be narrowly, not as close as what might be expected from a team such as the 16-7 Bulldogs as they are not shooting the typical amount of buckets.
HALFTIME- West Plains Zizzers: 35/ Carl Junction Bulldogs: 19
3rd Quarter: Carl Junction turns down a look at three as Jared Kraft shoots and scores on another two point floater. On the next possession, they do make up for it as Maddox Shorter scores another three pointer. The Bulldogs begin to cut into the lead well at the free throw line as Zizzers take two team fouls and two throws at the line by Deacon Indicott. Zizzers continue to bring some sense of offensive pressure as another three is shot by Clayton Robbins, his fourth makes it fifth of the night as he makes another one with under two minutes to go.A three at the buzzer by Kraft ends the Quarter with the Zizzer lead 51-39.
4th Quarter: Two floaters, one by Cooper Vediz for the Bulldogs and one by Josiah Long for the Zizzers. The ballgame continued to be held to at least ten points; Carl Junction played a more aggressive defense in the second half but was obviously still wounded from their low scoring first eight minutes of play. Cooper Vediz has four points in the game but doesn’t take a trip to the line for the Carl Junction with under four minutes to go. The Bulldogs end up cutting the game all the way to two after a long three by Maddox Shorter and another two to follow by Vediz. Ethan Tuma who has five in the second half rounds out the scoring for the game with two free throws.
