Felony battery and terroristic threatening charges have been filed against a Salesville, Ark., man. 20-year-old Jesse Edward Foster, was charged following an investigation into an assault that occurred on September 6, 2020 in the Jordan area. The incident was not reported to law enforcement until October 15 because the victims had been threatened if they reported the matter to the Sheriff’s Office. The Baxter County, Ark. Sheriff’s Office learned of the incident from an anonymous caller and then reached out to the victims after becoming aware of the incident.
The two victims, a husband and wife in their 60’s, stated that they were driving on Jordan Road between 7 and 8 p.m. on September 6th when a white four-door Chevrolet pickup truck pulled out behind them from a driveway with its bright lights on. The victims stated the driver of the truck was swerving back and forth behind them with bright lights. The suspect vehicle passed the victims, honking the horn, with the occupants hanging out the windows and yelling obscenities. The driver of the suspect vehicle cut between the victims and another vehicle ahead, then pulled into a church parking lot. The victims also pulled into the church parking lot. The male victim walked up to the suspects to find out what was going on. At this time, three males and one female exited the suspect vehicle. One male remained inside the suspect vehicle. The three males who exited attacked the victim. They began hitting him in the head and kicked him in the stomach, chest, and head. The female victim attempted to intervene, but one of the male suspects then hit her in the chest with his elbow, knocking her down to the ground. Both victims sustained serious injuries. It was noted that the female passenger in the suspect vehicle tried to stop the male suspects and offered aid to the victims. The victims managed to get back inside their vehicle and stated they were calling the Sheriff’s Office.
At this time one of the suspects, identified as Foster., said to the male victim, “how would you like a gun to your head” and stated someone would be coming to “kick your ass”. The victims further stated that two days after the assault occurred a man came to the house asking who the suspects were, indicating he’d had a similar incident as well with suspects in a white truck, but did not stop. A few days after this, Foster and three other males showed up at the victims’ residence and apologized for what had happened.
On October 16th, Foster was pulled over by the Arkansas State Police and arrested on other charges not connected with this incident and was brought to the Baxter County Detention Center. During the booking process, Sheriff’s Investigators charged Foster with two counts of Battery in the Second Degree – Felonies, and one counts of Terroristic Threatening in the First Degree – Felony in relation to this incident. Foster was released after posting $20,000 bond on these charges. He will appear in the Circuit Court to answer on October 22nd.
