She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers: Jessie McKee, Arlyn Wood, and Jessie “Junior” Wood, Jr; three sisters: Jessie Wood, Betty Rousseaux, and Lula “Mae” Clayton, and one granddaughter: Faith Nettles.
She is survived by her husband James Hayes of Alton, MO; a sister: Mildred Bailey of Columbus, MS; four sons: Antonio (Martina) Nettles of Alton, MO; Luke Nettles; Isaac (Christina) DeSalvo of Rogersville, MO; Ezekiel (Alyssa) Dahlke of Derby, KS; two daughters: Angel (Shawn) Halferty of Winona, MO; Delilah (Greg) Davis of Farmington, MO; 15 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Barbara was a patriot who loved her country unapologetically. She loved crafting and creating things; everything from clothes, costumes, blankets, and trinkets to salsas, jellies, and jams to share with her family. She sought great joy through her children and grandchildren’s excitement when presented with one of these homemade gifts. Her admiration for life was exemplified through her garden and plants. She loved the LORD. Her family takes comfort in her favorite verse during this time, Ecclesiastes 3:1 “For everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under Heaven:”
