The Current River crests lower than expected, sparing residents of Van Buren. Emergency Management Director, Curt Majors, tells Ozark Radio News that the river crested at 22 feet, and that impact to homes and businesses was kept to a minimum. Majors cautions that recreation areas along the river will likely have significant debris, and cleanup could take some time.
Evacuations were underway, as the National Weather Service had originally predicted a crest of 30 feet.
