On December 24, at 1:43 a.m., the Fulton County Sheriff’s Department received a call from the Fulton County Hospital in Salem, Ark., that a 52-year-old Hispanic male had arrived by private vehicle at the Emergency Room with multiple gunshot wounds. The man was brought in by his 30-year-old son that was visiting from Texas.
The shooting victim was flown by air ambulance to a Little Rock hospital for surgery. He is expected to fully recover.
Sheriff’s deputies and special agents with the Arkansas State Police were contacted and a search warrant of a home on Magnolia Road, south of Salem, was conducted. It was determined that a domestic disturbance occurred between the father and son shortly after midnight. The two had been drinking and the father became angry and a physical altercation began. The father went to the back of the house and retrieved a 9mm handgun and began shooting. The son retrieved a 40 caliber handgun from his bedroom and began firing back, striking his father several times in the torso and arm.
No arrests have been made and the the investigation continues.
