Grizzlies Snap Losing Skid

The Missouri State University – West Plains Grizzlies, (MSU-WP) welcomed St. Louis Community College, (SLCC) to the Civic Center. Each team came into the game on losing streaks, MSU-WP with a four game losing streak and SLCC on a nine game losing streak. The Grizzlies have lost some heartbreakers during the skid. The game started slow for each team. The Grizzlies turned the ball over on each of their first four possessions. The first half was a back and forth battle, with neither team able to gain much separation. The biggest lead for either team was 5. MSU-WP used their three point shooting to stay in the game, they made 5 as a team. Each team struggled on offense and with turnovers. SLCC held a two point lead at half 26-24.

MSU-WP came out the locker room ready to go. The first four possession for West Plains ended in three point baskets. The Grizzlies continued to use their three point shooting to retake the lead early in the second half. West Plains would not lose the lead for the remainder of the game. The Grizzlies made ten three pointers in the second, the majority of their points came from behind the arc. The biggest lead West Plains built was fourteen. The Grizzlies got back in the win column with a 67-59 victory, they are now (10-13) on the season.

MSU-WP will be back in action on Wednesday, at home against Moberly Area Community College.
