James Duayne Kerwin

James Duane Kerwin went home to our Lord on March 18, 2023, at the age of 71 year, 3 months, and 11 days. He was born December 13, 1951, to Jim and Ethel (Meek) Kerwin in Fremont, NE. James spent his childhood through high school on the family farm outside Hornick, IA. After graduating from Westwood High School in Sloan, IA, in 1970, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and was stationed in the White Sands New Mexico area.

On August 20, 1977, James married Sandie Ptacek. Three children were born to this union. On December 29, 1998, James married Kathie Carpenter.

James was preceded in death by: his parents; brother, Don Kerwin; sister, Patricia Kerwin; and grandson, Kristopher Kerwin. Survivors include: his wife, Kathie of the home; children, Penny (Paul) Pennington of Winfield, KS, David Kerwin of Thayer, MO, Adam (Krystal) Kerwin of Winfield, KS; step-children, Crystal (Robert) Martin of Thayer, MO, and Derrick (Brittany) Murphy of Springfield, MO; brothers, Ron Kerwin of Fremont, NE, Mike (Sue) Kerwin of Phoenix, AZ, sister Ilene Rhodman of Winfield, KS; 3 grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; 2 step-great-grandchildren; also many “adopted” children, other relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 1pm, Saturday, March 25, 2023, at 291 County Road 246 in Thayer, MO.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Clary Funeral Home of Thayer, MO.
