Houston, MO. – On June 29, 2024, the City of Houston is hosting a big downtown festival for a celebration of the year. Kevin Buck gives us a rundown of the events taking place.
Houston’s downtown festival will be full of events and activities for children and adults alike. There will be vendors and food stall set up all day long for attendees to browse through the local business’s and local people’s stock, from art to food. For more information about the vendors and booths contact Megan Ashworth, with Not too Shabby Boutique and All Things Houston Mo and Surrounding Areas.
In addition, there will also be an automotive show and live music all day, for anyone looking for a good time. The live music will be split up between live bands and a DJ playing music. The bands performing are still to be determined.
The BBQ competition will be held in the early afternoon. It is open to everyone, so whether you are a business looking for a chance to compete with fellow businesses or a person looking to share your joy of cooking it is open to you. At 6 p.m a 4th of July parade is going to be going around Downtown Houston to finish of the festivities in downtown.
The festival will last from 11 a.m to 6 p.m in Downtown Houston on Grand.
Then later that night, this will all be followed up with a firework show and truck-pull down a the Houston Fairgrounds. All the proceeds from the festival will be going to the local charities, Texas County Food Pantry and CASA.
