She graduated from Pawhuska High School class of 1945. After high school Joyce attended and graduated from Christian College, Columbia, MO and graduated from Oklahoma University 1949 with a degree in Home Economics and business. While at OU she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. She obtained her teaching certificate in 1969 from Fontbonne University in St. Louis.
While working at Jacquard’s in St. Louis she met Omar Edward Henne, Jr. and they married in 1951. They were married for 57 years until his death in 2008. They had two children, Deborah Henne Clary and Todd Welden Henne.
Joyce was a 60+ year resident of Brentwood, MO and was a Home Economics teacher at Brentwood High School from 1969-1980. She was also a Girl Scout leader and home room mother for both of her children. She was a member of the Brentwood Congregational Church. Joyce moved to Springfield, MO in 2020 to live with her daughter.
Nothing pleased Joyce more than the beauty of fresh flowers. If you choose to honor her, take a bouquet of fresh flowers to a family member, friend, neighbor or the nearest nursing home for someone to share in her joy of flowers.
She is predeceased by her parents, her brother, her husband, her son and one grandchild, James Patrick Clary.
She is survived by her daughter, Deborah Henne Clary, her granddaughters, Marisa G. Clary, Springfield and Carrie Henne (Cody), Overland Park, KS, and one grandson, Bradley Clary and his wife, Brandi and Joyce’s two great grandsons, Cooper James and Beck Edward Clary of Springfield, MO. One niece, April Hamel, St. Louis, MO.
Graveside services will be held 1pm Friday, January 13, 2022, at the Oak Grove Cemetery in St. Charles, MO. Arrangements are under the direction of the Clary Funeral Home of Alton, MO.
