Melissa Howell

Melissa Dawn (Missy) Collins Howell, 46, of Koshkonong, Missouri was born on Monday, April
25, 1977, to Carl Jay Collins and Brenda Lee Brinkley in West Plains, Missouri. She departed this
life on Friday June 30, 2023, while at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff,
Missouri.

Missy was what you would definitely call a tom boy. She was always outside playing around,
and enjoyed riding dirt bikes, four wheelers, and bulls. She loved the outdoors and didn’t let a
dirt bike accident keep her down. Her and Poppy Fred were the best of friends, and you would
hardly ever catch one of them without the other. She was always a protector over her brother
and sister growing up. Missy was a graduate of Alton High School in 1995. After high school she
worked as a CNA for numerous nursing homes.
If there was anything she enjoyed doing, it was spending time with her children. She always
enjoyed watching her kids play sports. She was always in the stands ready to cheer them on.
She was most recently Brinkley and Cooper’s basketball coach. She would do what she needed
to do to make sure that sports were involved and wanted her children to try different things.
No matter what, she had their back no matter the situation.

She was united in marriage on July 1, 2006, to Rick Howell in the state of Arkansas and was
most recently employed with BYO Operations, LLC.
Missy is preceded in death by her father, Carl Jay Collins; stepfather who she loved dearly, Jerry
Wayne Cozbey; maternal grandmother, Dorothy Mae Brinkley; paternal grandparents, Dophis
and Leah Collins; Aunts, Diana Collins, Alta Collins and Judy Myers; Uncles, Jarrett Collins and
Teddy Collins.
