A 1950 graduate of Alton High School, she later attended Chillicothe Business College. On July 27, 1951, Mildred married Larry Wallace and together they operated the Wallace Grocery Store in Alton, MO. Her brother Kelly Owens later became a partner, and they formed Wallace and Owens Stores, INC. Brother Richard later joined the company as well as sons Steve and Rich.
In December 1960, Mildred and Larry were baptized by Rev Clarence Dodson, becoming members of the Alton Freewill Baptist Church and developed a love for foreign missions. Mildred began her passion for genealogy in 1963, documenting a rich family history for future generations and additionally was a long-time member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
She is predeceased by her husband Larry, her parents, sisters Lorene, Davene, Anna Jean, Dorothy Marie and brothers Kelly and Richard.
Surviving is son Steven of Malden, Missouri, granddaughters Angela (Brad) French of Southaven, MS, Amy (David) Duckworth of Malden, MO, Amanda (Tyler) Layne of Malden, MO, and Ashli (Evan) Halleran of Fayetteville, GA, son Richard (Teresa) of Alton, MO, granddaughters Hannah (Jordan) Shultz of Dallas, TX and Allison (Jacob) Shultz of West Plains, MO, six great grandsons, five great granddaughters, and one brother Jon Alan (Lorna) of Albany, Oregon.

Graveside services will be 1:00pm Saturday, February 18, 2023, at the Huddleston Cemetery with Bro. Charles Trantham and Bro. Garland Barton officiating. Arrangements under the direction of the Clary Funeral home, Alton, MO.
