Walter’s survivors and pride and joy include his 5 daughters Janice Ann Collins, Forest Park, IL, Laura Sue Gaines, Mammoth Spring, AR, Lisa Stewart, Portia, AR, Pam Savage (Sam) Mammoth Spring, AR, and Sueann Robinson, Warrenton, MO, and his 6 grandchildren who brought the greatest joy to his life, Tyler Savage (Maddie) Mammoth Spring, AR, Colby Tote (Brandi) —CA, Mason Gaines (Sarah) Mammoth Spring, AR, Hayden Savage, Mammoth Spring, AR, Eli Stewart, Portia, AR, and Emma Robinson, Warrenton, MO. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews with some being close like children.
He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers, Arthur Collins, Ira Collins, Gene Collins, David Collins, Lloyd Collins and Charles Collins; three sisters, Cora Lee Jones, Laura Bell Marshall, and Rosa Faye Collins and one son-in-law, Lindal Gaines.
Walter proudly served in the US Army during the Vietnam Era. He worked in the cable industry as a lineman and later a salesman for many years. Working as a mechanic he had a variety of skills and could fix almost anything, and was willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He had a special place in his heart for his four legged friends, especially Poco.
Graveside services will be Friday, July 14, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. at the Edd Collins Cemetery in Wirth, AR, with Lennie Finney officiating.
There will be a processional line through Sidney at 12:30 beginning at Sidney Baptist Church before the funeral.
One thing that could be said about Walter and his family is that they loved each other wholeheartedly. They supported each other in every way in the good and bad times. He will be missed by those who knew and loved him.
