Willow Springs, MO. – On April 6, 2024, the Willow Chess Club is hosting a Chess Championship. It will take place at the Willow Springs High School Bears Tornado Shelter. Everyone registered for the event will play everyone at the tournament to determine the club championship.
To register for the event you can email your name and, if you are in school, your grade to chess@serega.com by Wednesday, April 3rd. Registration has a fee of $5 per participant and if you are in the adult section, there is no fee, and the fee can be paid on the day of the tournament.
On the day of, the registration starts at 9 and ends at 9:20 a.m., round 1 is 9:30 to 10:30, round 2 is 10:30 to 11:30, round 3 is 11:30 to 1:00 (this round includes the lunch break), and round 4 is 1:10 to 2:10. Individual awards will be given for 1st through 5th places in 3 different age groups. The sections are High School (9-12), Junior High (5-8), and Elementary (4 and below). Participants don’t have to be on the school team to compete in the Chess Club Competition. Everyone is responsible for their lunch, but a concession stand may be available to the public.
