WEST PLAINS, Mo. — The West Plains School District has offered the science-centric curriculum Project Lead The Way for nearly a decade, and hosted a tour date for area school districts and educators on Wednesday so they can see how the program works.
Ashley Benne is the director of school engagement for the national PLTW program. She told Ozark Radio News how the program works:

She added that getting students engaged with those STEM-related subjects is important to help keep the community competitive in a global marketplace:
Patricia Rodriguez with the school district trains the teachers on how to teach the PLTW curriculum and has been involved with the program since it started in the West Plains School District. She says starting the program at a young age helps spark the imaginations of children and opens out a new world for those children:
