Mr. Elmer Leroy Jones, a resident of Springfield, and formerly of Willow Springs, passed away early Thursday morning, January 23, 2020 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield. “Leroy” was born July 6, 1939 to Marion F. and Verda Lillie (Kinnie) Jones in London, Kentucky and was 80 years old.
Leroy grew up in the Burnham area, and lived on the family farm where he enjoyed working outdoors with his brothers and sisters. Leroy later enjoyed just driving about the countryside seeing the sights. He also loved to shop; however, his favorite pastime was watching westerns on television, particularly the ones which starred his hero, John Wayne. He will be greatly missed by his family, his friends, and all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Marion and Verdie Jones; his brothers, Lester, Harold, Ralph, Delbert, and two infant brothers; three sisters, Ella Marie Lovan, Gladys Chadd, and Mary Norris.
He is survived by one sister, Juanita Stubbs of Willow Springs and one brother, Marion F. Jones, Jr. of Springfield, MO.
A graveside service for Leroy will be held Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. at the Burnham Cemetery with Pastor Scott Williamson officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Willow Funeral Home, LLC. Online condolences may be left at www.willowspringsfuneralhome.com
