A number of West Plains-based business have posted on social media that their phone lines were down Friday (6/12). Multiple business expressed frustrations with their internet and phone provider, Fidelity Communications.
Fidelity Communications posted on their website, that the outages were due to the West Plains System Upgrade Project.

Fidelity Communications has started a system upgrade project to enhance current HFC plant. Fidelity crews and contractors will be adding fiber to this network to create a fiber rich network for more reliability, future connected services and additional bandwidth capacity. As work begins in an area, Fidelity will update the map above.
When crews are working on nodes and lines from the nodes, residents and businesses may see trucks and men in their neighborhood. In some cases, crews will need access the easement to work on the equipment. Therefore, it may be necessary for these workers to access a resident’s or business’s property. During the upgrade, there will be short service interruptions.
