Anita Maybelle Hoff, passed away Wednesday, November 11, 2020, at Mountain View Healthcare, in Mountain View, Missouri, at the age of 94 years, 9 months. She was born on January 2, 1926, in Catlin, Illinois, the daughter of Theodore Amos Hires and Elizabeth May (Kinder) Hires.
Anita, known more commonly as Maybelle, was married to George Leroy Hoff, in Garyton, Indiana, on March 10, 1944, and to this union, five children were born: Diane Lea, Janet Louise, Georgia Jean, Terence Trent, and Michael Joseph.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, George Hoff; her sisters, Harriet Nafziger, and Theodora Lau; her sons-in-law, Albert Pollreisz, and David Harris; her grandson, Christopher Hoff; and granddaughter-in-law, Christine Willbanks.
She is survived by her children, Diane Willbanks, and her husband Ronald, of St. Louis, MO, Janet Pollreisz, of Richland, MO, Georgia Harris, of Walnut Grove, MO, Terence Hoff, and his wife Jo Ann, of Ft. Pierce, FL, and Michael Hoff, and his wife Cheryl, of West Plains, MO; two brothers, William Hires of Columbia, MO, and Robert Hires, of Whitehouse, OH. In addition, she is survived by thirteen grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
Anita grew up in Illinois, and married George Hoff, in Indiana, where her three daughters were born. Following her husband’s return from the service in World War II, the family moved to Mountain View, Missouri, where they owned a large family farm, south of town.
There, two sons were born into the family.
Anita “Maybelle” was a devoted housewife, and loving mother of five, as well being loved by the Forest Dell community, where she baked pies, doughnuts, and pastries for community events, and was a devoted member of the Forest Dell Community Church and Forest Dell Ladies Aid. She also served as a Den Mother for Cub Scouts and served in the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She served as an election judge for decades in the Forest Dell community, for numerous elections.
A private, family service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 18, 2020, at Yarber Mortuary, in Mountain View, Missouri with James Duddridge officiating. Under the direction of Yarber Mortuary, Mountain View. Pallbearers are Scott Willbanks, Allen Pollreisz, Kenneth Pollreisz, Nathan Hoff, Mike Harris, Tavis Harris. Honorary Pallbearers are Kevin Willbanks, Steven Hoff, David Pollreisz, Rick Harris.
A public visitation will not be held at this time. However, a memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Forest Dell Community Church, at the Yarber Mortuary, in Mountain View. Condolences may be expressed at www.yarbermortuary.com.
