SPRINGFIELD — Missouri State has hired former University of Houston football standout Payton Haslam as its athletics development director, the university announced Thursday (May 6).
Haslam has spent the last two years in the external affairs, ticketing and annual fund unit at SIU Edwardsville where he is completing his MBA.
“Payton is an excellent addition to our staff, and we are very excited about the energy he will bring to the BearsFund staff,” said Kerry Dickerson, senior director of athletics development. “We look forward to having him working hard for the Bears and our donors.”
Haslam is a 2019 graduate of the University of Houston where he coordinated the Cougar Athletic Excellence Fund’s GEM (Give Every Month) program and managed the profiles of more than 150 prospective donors. He also handled all sport-specific giving along with Cougar Booster programs.
He graduated magna cum laude after a football career that extended from 2016 to 2018. He was a two-time American Athletic Conference All-Academic Team member.
Originally from Houston, Texas, Haslam attended Mesquite High School there.
His hire is contingent upon formal approval by the Missouri State University Board of Governors at its next scheduled meeting.
