Super Bowl champion Tom Brady will reunite with Phil Mickelson for a golf battle against Aaron Rodgers and Bryson DeChambeau in the fourth edition of The Match. The Match format started when Mickelson beat Tiger Woods in a head-to-head battle in 2018 in Las Vegas. Tiger Woods and Peyton Manning then beat Mickelson and Brady in the second edition of the celebrity showdown in 2020 in Florida. This year it will see Mickelson and Brady take on Rodgers and DeChambeau on July 6th from the Reserve at Moonlight Basin in Montana.
The TCMH Healthcare Foundation hosts a charitable golf tourney Saturday June 12th. Funds raised have provided scholarships for several local students to pursue additional educational training in health-related career fields. Traditionally, the event has been played at Oakwood Golf Course in Houston, MO. The format is a two-person scramble $120.00 per team with tee off times slated for 8AM and 1PM! West Plains High School senior Haidan Barnard has signed his National Letter of Intent to attend and play baseball at Arkansas Tech University. ATU is a top-tier Division II program located in Russellville, Arkansas. Recently, ATU earned a share of a conference championship in the Great American Conference.
Golfers interested in playing a free round of golf are encouraged to take advantage of the North Terra Golf Course’s “Free Golf Fridays” beginning Friday, May 28. The special will be good throughout the 2021 calendar year and offers golfers a chance to play up to 18 holes of golf free of charge. The special does not apply for cart rentals, which are $12 for nine holes and $20 for 18 holes. Golf Course Manager Stan Webb said the offer is a chance to increase awareness of the municipal course, which is located at 1724 North Terra Street off Highway BB. The course has undergone some layout changes in the last year and now offers six par 5’s, six par 4’s, and six par 3’s. North Terra Golf Course hours are from 8 am to 7 pm.
