MLB: Commish Manfred Eyes Rule Tweaks To Restore League To Its Roots

Major League Baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred said the league will likely drop seven-inning doubleheaders and extra-innings runner rule in 2022. 

Both rules were implemented last season due to COVID and remained in effect for this season.

The players’ union will have to approve the change to get rid of both rules.

Manfred also seemed to advocate for banning the shift… a move he says would restore classic baseball play.
