Joan Pierce

Joan Pierce was born June 3, 1942 in Windsor, Missouri to Leonard and Mildred (McNutt) Humphrey.  She passed away August 28, 2021 at St. Lukes Hospital in Chesterfield, Missouri at the age of 79.

Joan grew up in Windsor and graduated from high school there. After high school she worked for Phillips 66 for a time before becoming a hair dresser.  She later went on to work for Demdaco as a customer service representative where she made many lifelong friends that she still kept in contact with.

She was united in marriage to Eugene Dale Bird on September 22, 1961 and they were blessed with two children, Sandra and David.  They were married over 20 years when Eugene passed away in a car accident in March of 1982.  Joan was united in marriage to Don Pierce on February 14, 1998 and they made their home in Belton, Missouri until November of 2019 when they moved to Summersville, Missouri to be closer to Sandra and her family.

In her younger years, Joan enjoyed the stock car races and supported family friends who raced.  She also enjoyed playing darts and she excelled in black powder shooting competitions with both pistols and long rifles.  She was the Kansas and Missouri State Champion shooter numerous times.  Joan also enjoyed going to the casinos with Don.  She could often be found sitting and reading a good book as well.  In recent years she loved to attend all her grandkids ball games and spending time with family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Mildred Humphrey; her first husband, Eugene and a brother, Vernon Humphrey.

Joan is survived by her husband Don; her daughter, Sandra Mattison and husband Fred; her son, David Bird; grandchildren, Crystal Rutledge and husband Jason and Korben Peters; great grandchildren Zane, Kyah, Ashton, Kaden and Ravyn and a sister, Carol Hansen and husband Roger as well as many other family members and friends.  She will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
