Tommie Junior Hollis, 79 years, 2 months, and 17 days old, passed away on December 9, 2021 at Cox South Medical Center in Springfield, MO with his family by his side.
Tommie was born September 23, 1942 in Muleshoe, Texas to J.N. “Shorty”and Eula (Teague) Hollis.
He was retired from working at Emerson Electric and Ava R-1 School District.
On June 2, 1973 Tommie and June Kilburn were united in marriage at Ava, MO. Together they had one daughter, Crystal.
Tommie’s first love was his Savior and his Church. He was attending the Destination Church in Ava. He loved supporting and going to all the Ava High School and Middle School girls and boys games. He and his brother, Gerald never missed a game. He was also a big time K.C. Chiefs and St. Louis Cardinals fan. Another love of Tommie’s was dancing at weddings. Tommie ran the family football pool and normally was the winner. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and golfed nearly everyday when the weather was warm. His years at the school were really enjoyed as he could spend time around the kids talking sports.He also enjoyed camping, there was hardley a thing that didn’t enjoy.
Tommie was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife June in 1994 and an infant brother Ronnie.
He is survived by his daughter Crystal and husband Joel Garner, grand daughters, Amanda and Christopher, Netosha and Logan, Kayla and David, Ashley and Chance, Kyra and Ethan, Brenna, and grandson Codey. Tommie was also survived by his brothers Richard and wife Juila of Texas, Donnie and wife Marla of Oklahoma, and Gerald of Ava and a host of relatives and friends.
Graveside services for Tommie will be Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at the Murray Cemetery, Squires, MO. Officiating will be Pastor James Hathcock. Memorials may be made to the Destination Church. Services are being conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO.
