WEST PLAINS, Mo. – Missouri State University-West Plains (MSU-WP) Grizzly Basketball Head Coach Jared Phay today announced the signings of two transfers for the upcoming season.
Aiden Gair, Williamsport, Pennsylvania, and Micah Garrett, Portland, Oregon, have signed national letters of intent to join the team.
“We’re excited to have Aiden and Micah join the team. They both will provide experience to the Grizzlies’ roster,” Grizzly Basketball Head Coach Jared Phay said.
Gair, a 6-foot 3-inch wing, is transferring to MSU-WP after two years with Frank Phillips College in Borger, Texas. He averaged 8.7 points and shot 40% from 3-point range.
“Aiden is a knock-down shooter who has two years of experience playing in a very tough conference,” Phay said. “He is a physically strong player, so he can guard, rebound and do a lot of things.”
Gair was a three-sport star at Loyalsock High School. The two-time all-state linebacker and Mr. Pennsylvania finalist turned down NCAA football scholarships to play basketball in college, Phay said. He also was a standout baseball player who could hit 92 mph on a radar gun as a pitcher.
Since Gair’s freshman season was during the covid waiver year, he will have one year of NJCAA eligibility left, and Phay expects him to make the most of it.
“He has been receiving some NCAA D1 interest already, and we expect that he will have a good year and receive even more D1 offers next season,” the coach said.
Garrett, a 6-foot, 4-inch guard, is transferring from Casper College in Wyoming. Garrett has been on Phay’s recruiting radar since his days at West Linn High School while Phay was coaching in Idaho.
“Micah has been receiving a lot of attention from NCAA D1 schools for a while,” Phay said.
Garrett averaged 19 points and four rebounds a game while shooting 44% from 3-point range as a senior at West Linn.
He played a shortened season at Casper College but will receive a waiver from that year and will come to the Grizzlies with freshman eligibility.
“Micah can play a little of every guard spot,” Phay said.
