State high school baseball playoffs got underway yesterday in class 1 Norwood defeated South Iron 14-2 Norwood will play Oran Wed for a chance to make it to the HS baseball final four. In class 2 Gainesville hosted Plato in the first round of sectionals and the Bulldogs took the win 8-4 over the Eagles Gainesville will play Marionville Wed for the chance to advance to the final four. In class 3 today sectional baseball play Hartville host Catholic.
Saturday May 28th Summersville Athletics will host a golf tournament with two tee times 730am and 1pm, it’s a three-person 18-hole scramble 150 per team tournament will be held at the Mountain View Golf Course, a signup sheet is in the proshop.

The 2022 Junior College Player of the Year, Sean East, has signed with Mizzou basketball for the upcoming 2022-23 season. East has previous Division 1 experience with playing time at UMass and Bradley, before his success at John A. Logan Junior College. He will have two remaining years of eligibility.
