Baxter County Library celebrates Library Card Sign-up Month

MOUNTAIN HOME, AR – September is Library Card Sign-up Month! Libraries nationwide join the American Library Association (ALA) to remind parents, caregivers, and students that signing up for a library card is the first step toward academic achievement and lifelong learning.

Libraries play a crucial role in children’s education and development, offering various programs to spark creativity and stimulate an interest in reading and learning. Through access to technology, media resources, and educational programs, a library card gives students the tools to succeed in the classroom and provides people of all ages opportunities to pursue their dreams, explore new passions and interests, and find their voice.

At the Baxter County Library, patrons of all ages can find various educational resources and activities, including Color Me Calm, Story Times, and Crafternoon. Next Month, patrons can explore the Museum of Discovery’s Diamonds Exhibit and participate in some of the Diamond Days activities September 10 through November 26.

During September, the Baxter County Library is celebrating Library card holders.  Visit the Donald W. Reynolds Library Serving Baxter County and pick up a punch card. Receive a punch for each visit that you check out materials.  Get at least three punches, and be entered to win a special prize.

Also during National Library Card month, the American Library Association invites you to post to Instagram or Twitter using the hashtag #GetLibraryCarded, for a chance to win a $100 Visa gift card. Entries can also be submitted by posting as a comment or wall post on the I Love Libraries Facebook page. Be sure not to reveal personal information on your library card, and don’t forget to tag your library! The creator of one randomly-selected post will receive a $100 Visa gift and a poster of choice from ALA Graphics. Three second-place winners will receive their poster of choice from ALA Graphics.
