David Carl Williams, 68 years, 11 months, 30 days old, passed away on September 1, 2022 from a hard fought battle with cancer at the Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri with his family by his side.
David was born September 2, 1953 in East Tawas, Michigan to Carl Edgar and Barbara June (James) Williams.
On October 14, 1989 David and Rhonda Swofford were united in marriage at Ava, MO and together they were blessed with two children, Tyler David and Haley Breann, along with Matthew Scott and Derek Chad Collins.
He was a retired History Teacher and Coach. He had taught for over 20 years. He graduated from Mtn. Grove High School and then got his B.S. Degree from the Missouri State University in Springfield, MO. Later he received his Masters Degree in Administration from William Woods University.
David taught and coached at Cabool, Mtn.View-Birch Tree, Ava, Mtn. Grove, and retired from West Plains, MO.
David absolutely loved football! He was awarded a scholarship with the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville and remained a lifelong Razorback fan. Go Hogs! He was an avid reader with emphasis on history, a sports enthusiast and loved golfing with family and friends.
David was a Christian and attended in person and virtual the Cross Point Church in Ava.
He was preceded in death by his father, Carl; father-in-law, Bill Swofford and brother-in-law, Kevin Swofford.
David is survived by his wife, Rhonda of the home, his mother, Barbara June Williams; mother-in-law, Barbara Swofford; his children and their spouses, Matt Collins & Tori, Chad & Courtney Collins, Tyler and Haley Williams; 3 grandchildren, Cash Parker, Creed Jameson and Lucy Carolina; two sisters, Pamela & Gary Williams and Sarah & Kent Peterson; one brother, Wade Willams & Donna; in-laws, Roger & Ann Swofford, Joe & Rita Swofford, and Judy & Kirk Dooms; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
Memorial services for David will be Saturday, September 10, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at the Mtn. Grove High School Arena, 420 N. Main, Mtn. Grove, MO. Officiating will be Pastor Ron Wallace. Burial of his ashes will be at a later date in the Ava Cemetery. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society or American Diabetic Association. Services are being conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, MO.
