Volleyball Falls in Five to K-State

COLUMBIA, Mo. – University of Missouri volleyball’s late road comeback came up short Wednesday as the Tigers dropped a five-setter on the road at Kansas State inside Bramlage Coliseum.

Mizzou (4-3) dropped the opening set 27-25 and the second set 25-14 before roaring back to win the third and fourth sets by 26-24 and 25-20 margins, respectively, to forced the deciding fifth set.

The Tigers were on their heels in the fifth set, going down 7-1, but battled back to pull the deficit down to four at 14-10 before falling 15-10 and dropping the match three sets to two.

Anna Dixon’s 17 kills led the offensive charge for the Tigers while Jordan Iliff added 10 kills of her own with four blocks. Kaylee Cox produced 21 digs and dished out a career-high 5 assists and Riley Buckley added 32 assists, seven kills and four blocks.

Shaylee Myers led Kansas State with 23 kills while Elena Baka and Haley Warner another 16 for the Wildcats.

UP NEXT
Mizzou travels to Indianapolis, Indiana for the Bulldog Classic hosted by Butler University. The Tigers will play three matches, opening up with Ohio at noon CT on Friday, Sept. 16 before turning around to play the host Bulldogs at 6 p.m. Action closes out on Saturday, Sept. 17 with a noon matchup against Central Michigan.
