Missouri Attorney General appointed as Special Prosecutor for former West Plains Teacher charged with Child Molestation

West Plains, Mo. – After more than a year of facing multiple felony charges dealing with the sexual assault of a female student, a former West Plains teacher will have the Missouri Attorney General as a special prosecutor. 

Christopher R. Taylor, age 42, was arrested on Feb. 22, 2022, for the felony charges of Sexual Contact with a Student, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, and Child Molestation.

A jury trial had been scheduled for February 24, 2023, but the defense for the accused successfully argued a potential conflict with the Prosecuting Attorney’s office, and the trial was canceled. At the request of Taylor’s counsel, a request for the appointment of a special prosecutor was sustained. 

A case review has been set for Wednesday, March 15, 2023, in Poplar Bluff, Mo. Taylor remains free on bond while awaiting court.
