Ava, MO. – The 13th traffic fatality has been reported from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Troop G, with this one having occurred outside of Ava.
Scottie Plumb, a local Ava resident, was driving a GMC Sierra with a trailer attached while on Highway 14 on June 8th. He was travelling Eastbound, when, at roughly 11 miles East of Ava, his trailer detached while driving.
The detached trailer crossed the centerline of the roadway, which then struck a Westbound Dodge Ram 2500 in the driver’s door. The driver, Mason Morpeth, a 25-year-old from Thornfield, MO. was severely injured as a result. The time of the crash is listed as 1:30pm, and Doctor Andrew Wylie of Cox South pronounced Morpeth deceased at 2:15pm.
Morpeth is reported as not having worn his safety device at the time of the crash.
This fatal crash was investigated by Sergeant Elliot, and assisted by the Major Crash Investigation Unit’s Corporal Waters.
