West Plains, MO. – A Norwood man was airlifted to an area hospital following a Friday crash involving a dump truck near Twin Bridges in Douglas County. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol report, the incident occurred at 11:25 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 14 and 181.
A Toyota Tacoma driven by Peter Metroplos, age 68 of Norwood, was turning west from Highway 181 onto Highway 14 when he was struck in the side by an eastbound Sterling Dump Truck driven by Owen Jackson, age 70 of Thayer. Both vehicles were damaged in the collision and Jackson was not reported as being injured.
Metroplos suffered serious injuries in the crash. He was airlifted by Air Evac to Cox Health Medical Center – South in Springfield for treatment of his injuries.
