COLUMBIA, Mo. – Missouri baseball Head Coach Kerrick Jackson put the finishing touches on his 2024 coaching staff Wednesday, officially announcing the additions of Jose Carballo as director of player personnel and Joseph Dattoli as director of player development.
Carballo joins the Tigers after completing a five-year stint on the coaching staff of his alma mater, Bethune-Cookman University in Daytona Beach, Fla. Most recently, he served as the Wildcats’ hitting coach, working primarily with B-CU’s infielders and catchers.
A four-year standout on the diamond for Bethune-Cookman, Carballo began his coaching career as a graduate assistant and operations director for the Wildcats in 2018. The Cataño, Puerto Rico native also filled the role of volunteer assistant before being promoted to assistant coach prior to the 2019 season.
“We’re very excited to have Jose as a member of our Tiger family,” Jackson said. “His professionalism, knowledge base, and ability to connect with our young men made him a perfect fit. He will help us do great things here at Mizzou!”
Dattoli comes to Mizzou after serving the same role on Jackson’s Memphis staff last season. He also worked with the new Tigers skipper during his tenure at Southern University, overseeing the Jaguars’ player development before earning his undergraduate degree from the Baton Rouge institution in 2020.
Originally hailing from St. Louis, Dattoli previously served as a lead analyst for Prep Baseball Report’s data operations team and as its West Coast operations director. He completed his master’s degree in data analytics from Southern New Hampshire in 2022.
“We are very fortunate to have Joe as our director of player development,” Jackson added. “His attention to detail, supreme level of intelligence, and high baseball IQ, have put him in elite company in the college baseball landscape. Our players will have a huge asset with Joe on our staff.”
Dattoli and Carballo join Assistant Coaches Jabari Brown, Tim Jamieson and Bryson LeBlanc on Jackson’s first Mizzou staff. Director of Pitching Performance Breckin Williams and Director of Operations Alex Barton were retained to round out the Tigers’ 2024 staff.
