The Royals failed to snap their losing streak. Kansas City suffered its fifth straight loss in a 6-3 setback to the Pittsburgh Pirates at Kauffman Stadium. Carlos Hernandez was handed the loss and his fourth blown save after he allowed one run in the eighth inning.
Cole Ragans pitched seven shutout innings for the Royals only allowing three hits while striking out nine.
Freddy Fermin went 2-for-4 with two RBI to lead KC at the plate in the losing effort. The Royals fell to 41-and-93. They will send right-hander Brady Singer to the hill for the series finale against Pittsburgh tonight.
