The Willow Springs Bears have started their basketball season. During the first two weeks the Bears have played four games and are (2-2) on the season. The first game was on the 21st, at home, where they lost to the visiting Seymour Tigers, 50-41. After the Thanksgiving break, they traveled to Strafford on Monday, Thursday, and Saturday for three games.
On Monday, the 27th, the Bears squeaked out a narrow victory against the Waynesville Tigers, 54-50 in the first game of the Strafford Tournament. The win put the Bears in the winners side of the bracket and had them facing the hosts of the tournament, the Strafford Indians. Strafford is a strong team and won the game 70-35. On Saturday, Willow Springs faced a SCA foe for the third place game, in the Mountain Grove Panthers. Willow held a twelve point lead at half 42-30. The Panthers attempted to make a comeback, but fell short. The Bears won the contest 73-66. Willow Springs goes (2-1) in the Strafford Tournament, with a third place finish. They are (2-2) on the season. Willow Springs will be back in action Tuesday, December 5th, in the Mansfield Invitational, playing RUSH at 7:30 p.m.
