Two people arrested in drug bust near Elementary School on Tuesday

West Plains, MO. – Two people were arrested in West Plains on Tuesday following a narcotics search warrant one block north of the West Plains Elementary School. 

James Ariel Quiroz, age 41, and Carrie Lynne McFarland, age 62, have been charged with two counts of 2nd-degree trafficking drugs and keeping or maintaining a public nuisance.

West Plains Police executed a narcotics search warrant on the residence of Quiroz and McFarland in the 1200 block of Allen Street after receiving information that illegal narcotics were present at the residence. Officers seized roughly 40 grams of suspected methamphetamine and over 260 oxycodone pills. 

According to the probable cause statements, when Quiroz was questioned in post-Miranda interviews, he requested a lawyer and answered no questions. In post-Miranda interviews with McFarland, the statement says she admitted to knowingly possessing items seized during the search of the property.
