Bears Tame the Tigers

The Willow Springs Bears traveled to visit the Salem Tigers. The game started with the teams swapping turnovers. The Bears then went on a 6-2 scoring run. Salem used three point shooting to score their points, while the Bears used the inside game. The teams did swap successful 3 point shots on multiple trips down the court. The three point shooting for Salem was mostly scored by one player who had 14 points after the first quarter.

Salem’s three point shooting continued at the beginning of the seconnd quarter. The Tigers were able to take a small lead for a short amount of time. The pace of the game slowed down in the second quarter due in part to both teams spending some time at the free throw line. The Bears were able to lead 32-26 at halftime.

The Bears used their defense to force multiple turnovers in the third quarter and built a 19 point lead. Salem’s three point shooting was not as effective as it was in the first half which also helped the Bears build a lead. Salem trailed 59-41 after three quarters. During the fourth quarter the Tigers were able to cut into the lead slightly. The Bears, however, were able to win the game 72-57. The Bears are now (9-12) on the season and will be back in action on Tuesday, facing the Ava Bears.
